The fall of Machu Picchu was the fall the Inca empire. The Inca empire was conquered by the Spanish under Francisco Pizarro González, who imprisoned the Inca. Machu Picchu was a country house of the Incas (something like as the shape of a Camp David retreat near Washington for the president). Once there was Inca, no reason To Machu Picchu and it fell into disuse and finally disappeared until it was rediscovered by Hiram Bingham.
