Is it safe for young women to travel independently throughout S. AMERICA?
I am planning to go first to Lima, Peru, then go To Machu Picchu and so on. I bought a single Planet S. American book to guide my journey. One of the ways I am planning to take is the Andean mountains, partially not the whole way. I must admit that I want to go but I'm being irrationally afraid to go on my own. Any suggestions on what places to avoid and tips for keeping safe?
I state in Brazil, Argentina and Peru. Make sure you have a learned a lot of Spanish before you go. I would suggest a guide at night. Its not a rich continent.
